Dear Parent/Carer/ Year 11 pupil
At 16:45 yesterday, Pearson, the examination board responsible for BTEC qualifications, announced that BTEC grades would be reviewed in line with all GCSE and A Level examinations. Initially, they had stated that they believed that BTEC results were not affected by the wider changes to GCSE and A Level grades however we, like many other schools had disputed this assertion. While this uncertainty is totally unacceptable, we are pleased that our pupils should now get the results that reflect their ability and potential.
With this in mind, please be aware that the BTEC grades included on the overall summary of the grades that your son/daughter has received have not been reviewed. We have been assured that the results will NOT go down following the examination board review. We felt that removing these this morning would only delay further the issuing of results today, adding further to pupils’ anxieties and delay decision about their plans for September.
As soon as these grades have been reissued we will send an updated grades sheet.
I have included a link to the latest information provided so that you are fully aware of the update.
