St John Plessington serves as an extension of the parish community. In doing so we work in partnership with families and their local communities, and are able to integrate both the spiritual and cultural education of young people. 

St John Plessington aims to foster a partnership between the school, local parishes and the diocese.  This partnership provides the source of a school’s authentic ecclesial foundation and it forms the secure basis for the school’s mission and communion with the parish and the home. 

Year 7 Retreat Days

As part of the Welcome programme for our New Year 7s, the RE department supports an in-school retreat, delivered by the Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team. The theme for the 2 weeks is 'Fly High', focusing on all the God given gifts and talents the pupils have, reflecting on the words of Pope Francis;  “Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you. Do not be afraid to dream of great things.” 

Year 7 Welcome Mass

As part of the Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team retreat programme, Year 7 also celebrate their Year 7 Welcome Mass at St John's church, where the pupils share their talents in prayer and song.
