Dear families,
I'm pleased to be able to inform you that the issues with the water and gas pipes have now been resolved. There has been a full site review and health and safety check and school will be open tomorrow, Tuesday 15th February to all pupils at the normal time.
Dear Families,
First of all, apologies for the late communication this morning, unfortunately we were trying to do our best to assess the situation and get the school open in a safe way. It became apparent that this was not going to be possible due to the burst water main which led to us having no running water in the school and issues with the gas supply. As you will appreciate this meant that we were unable to flush toilets, wash hands and have water to cook meals.
Dear Families
Bike Right - Yr 7
Following the success of the Summer School Bikeability Level 3 cycle training for our students, we have secured a three-day course with Bike Right called Own the Ride: Share the Road. This course is designed to develop road sense, awareness of traffic and to improve your child’s ability to ride safely.
During Children's Mental Health Week we are pleased to inform you that we have launched a new service for students to be able to report concerns through our College website.
Dear Parents & Students
Yesterday, the exam boards published the advance information for Summer 2022 examinations. Senior leaders, subject leaders and class teachers are now reviewing that information to incorporate it into their planning over the forthcoming weeks.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make yesterday another memorable Harry Potter Book Night(Day)! This year's theme was 'magical journeys'. A big thank you to Mr Shillinglaw for making our fantastic Ford Anglia prop and to all the students who helped to decorate the library.
Dear Families
Having reviewed our staffing availability for tomorrow, Tuesday 1 February 2022, we would continue to ask Year 8 and 9 to work remotely for an additional day. Teachers will be available throughout the lessons to answer questions and provide support. Thankfully, due to the shortened isolation period, we will have sufficient numbers of staff back in school for Year 8 and 9 to be able to return to school on Wednesday 2 February 2022.
Dear Parents & Carers
As part of our continued building work we will need to turn the power off in school and shut down our servers over the weekend. This process will start this evening (Friday 28 January 2022) at 15:30. As a result our phone system will not be in operation. Should you need to contact school urgently please email us at
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to update you on the current impact of Covid-19 on St John Plessington Catholic College and our plans to address this. You will be aware from the school’s communications that we have made every effort to maintain full opening to all our students whilst maintaining an environment that is as safe as possible. We have had continued liaison with the Local Authority and Wirral Outbreak Hub to ensure that we are taking every action necessary to minimise disruption.
Dear Parents and Carers,
You may be aware that rates of COVID-19 in Wirral seem to be very slowly decreasing. However, they are still very high and local schools are still experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks. As we are also in the Winter season, viruses other than COVID will be circulating, so local schools will face a huge challenge in attempting to reduce the risk of infections spreading.
Dear Year 7 Parents and Carers
It is with pleasure that I am able to say that our Year 7 students have settled really well over the past term and in many ways it feels like they have been with us a long time already! Thank you for all your support in helping to make the transition smooth and a public thank you to the Year 7 team - Ms Breen, Ms Noone, Ms Gascoigne and the form teachers for all their hard work and commitment.
